Emma Sparr, Professor at Physical Chemistry, has received a prestigious grant for interdisciplinary research environments from the Swedish Research Council. The collaborative project “CASCADE - cause or consequence in Alzheimer disease?” involves scientists at the department of Chemistry, Lund University (Emma Sparr & Sara Linse) and scientists at the Department of Psychiatry and Neurochemistry, Gothenburg University (Jörg Hanrieder & Henrik Zetterberg). The project aims at deepened understanding of how changes in molecular factors like protein solubility, protein solubilization, protein modifications as well as protein-lipid interactions influence amyloid aggregation processas in vivo and in vitro.
