Differential scanning calorimeter (DSC)
A VP-ITC Differential Scanning Microcalorimeter with a Pressure Perturbation Calorimetry accessory from MicroCal (GE Healthcare) was purchased in 2010. This is a sensitive microcalorimeter for samples in solution. The instrument has an active cell volume of ca 0.5 ml, and it operates for temperatures between –10ºC to +130ºC. The cells consists of non-reactive Tantalum 61™ for excellent chemical resistance, and they are fixed-in-place for reproducible ultrasensitive performance with low maintenance. The systems uses a Peltier element for precise temperature control. It allows for user selectable temperature scan rates (0ºC to 90ºC per hour upscans), enabling for studies of fast or slow transition processes. (Sponsored by The Knut and Alice Wallenberg Foundation.)
