Title: Structure and dynamics of polymers in metal organic frameworks (MOFs): Neutrons, NMR and not quite all the answers…
Abstract: This presentation will highlight the use of complementary methods: PXRD, NMR, microscopy and neutron based techniques, to follow the templated in-situ polymerisation of vinyl acetate in a metal-organic framework, to form composite soft/crystalline materials. Drawing on recent experiments carried out at the ISIS neutron scattering facility using IRIS (quasi-elastic scattering) and NIMROD (wide-angle scattering), we will explore the associated challenges of data analysis and discuss how total scattering data can help guide the further development of molecular dynamics methods for predicting the behaviour of polymers in solution and within composite materials.
