Dr. Björn Stenqvist, Physical Chemistry, Lund University will give a so-called Docent Lecture. 

Title: Long-ranged forces in the universe

Abstract:  The universe is governed by interactions of different types, some short- and other long-ranged. The type of interaction greatly impacts the configurations and relationships between the affected objects. Short-ranged forces includes the strong and weak forces which are primarily affecting sub-atomic length-scales, while electromagnetism and gravitational forces are Iong-ranged and affect atomistic and macroscopic ranges respectively. While the two latter ones are both long-ranged, their impact is still quite different. In this talk the similarities and differences between long-ranged electromagnetic and gravitational forces will be addressed
